Happy Former Vacation Week!  Here are your assignments for tonight:

1. Hop over to Miss Torres’s website.  Spend 20 minutes practicing chorus music, please.

A beautiful STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHED shot of nature in the PGS field!

A beautiful STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHED shot of nature in the PGS field!

2.  Today, we took many impressive photos of the natural beauty around our school.  You all are amazing photographers!  Tomorrow, we will use the photos to inspire some poetry writing.  We also will talk about things we all, as individuals, can do to help the earth.  To prepare for that, I want you to think of things YOU, as a FOURTH GRADER can do to help the earth.  Remember, things like “Drive electric cars.” aren’t appropriate suggestions because you, as a kid, will not drive a car in the near future.  When you post your idea, be sure to explain WHY you think it is a good idea.  USE CORRECT GRAMMAR, SPELLING, and PUNCTUATION.

3.  Visit the website again a bit later on, if you can, and post a comment in response to someone else’s idea.  If there is something you don’t understand about someone’s idea, ask them a question.  If you agree or disagree, politely share your opinion, but be sure to back it up.  Again, use CORRECT grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and be sure to AVOID USING ALL NAMES.

Always recycle plastic and glass bottles, and paper products. This helps the earth because it makes the earth clean and you could reuse them over and over again.

We could help the earth by not making factories because they pollute the air. Also we can help by not littering but if other people are littering (even though they should not do that)you should clean the litter. If you can you should recycle the litter. We should plant trees to help the earth too and if the tree dies you should plant it so more can grow.We should do this every day because every day is earth day.

But, how will we get things we need when there aren’t any factories?

I would plant a tree because the leaves would filter the air from the
factories that pollute it.The leaves take in carbonmonoxide and puts out fresh air. This is why I would plant a tree.

I can help the earth by picking up trash and rubbish and also try to help not to pollute. This helps our earth by being clean and not have all the smell and polluted air get into our lungs.
There is a place somewhere in this amazing world where the whole nine yards is covered in
TRASH so help our earth and community. :>D

I like this because it lets less polution get into the ocean wich kills animals. I also like 8’s word choice of plastic throw-outs

Instead of our parents driving us to school every day, or having them pick us up, we could all take the bus more often, or carpool with a friend, or walk or ride a bike if you are close to school. This will help the environment by using less energy and making less pollution.

about 1213-16s idea there could be factories that dont pollute and use wind, water, or solar energy. 🙂

Perhaps you are saying that USES solar energy and doesn’t pollute wind or water?

We can help by reusing the things we can. Maybe be thats going to the store, you can reuse your old bags. Maybe things you would not think of, my sister was going to throw out her old backpack and I wanted a new one so, thats how i got her old backpack. Its the little things that help.

I can reuse empty cans and bottles again. For example, you can use a paint jar as a pencil holder or a cup by adding a handle. For a bottle, you can fill it up again and again and again. That way factories don’t have to make things such as water bottles a lot anymore. the less the factory works, the less air pollution. This could work for years!*

*Unless people find a new way to solve the problem.

I can, at school, recycle my white paper. This is a good idea because they use the paper that we recycle to make other paper things wich lets them not cut down as many trees.

  17. 1213-18
    April 18, 2013

I can reuse bottles by refilling them instead of getting a new bottle of and recycle
white paper so they can reuse it to make new things and not cut so many trees.

I have been refilling bottles every day and recycle paper that I written on and threw it in recycling bin. So every thing is going great.

  18. 1213-7
    April 18, 2013

    1. Use your own bags instead of plastic bags
    2. Don’t waste paper
    3.recycle white paper

You can recycle bottels instead of throwing them on the ground.

You can also turn off the water when you don’t need it.
